The Bitch Is Back

July 17, 2008

My sister came home from 10 days in Germany today. Maybe she was just tired from the flight or something but it only took 10 seconds for me to want to smack her. I hope she’s in a better mood tomorrow because I don’t want to spend my day putting up with shit. It was a terrible trip to go get her too. The Dulles toll road was horribly backed up while going out and 495 was backed up coming home. I do like that I got to drive my car a bunch but it was mostly just easing off the breaks for 3 feet and then stopping again.

Whiny teenage girls aside, today was extremely quiet. I spent alot of time reading and listening to music. I found an incredible blog called Curious Expeditions. It’s a record of a couple of people exploring all these little out of the way museums and shops and this cool history stuff. Everything from 19th century zoological museums in Romania to antique nautical shop in a Turkish market. It’s bad ass and incredible cool.

I’ve been listening to The Fiery Furnaces. I don’t know whether to like it or not. I downloaded four of their albums and only consistantly liked the 1st one (Gallowsbird’s Bark). The others fluctuate wildly. I’ll be loving a song and then it turn into distortion and experimental type crap. Then it’ll turn good again. I think I’m gonna end up erasing most of it out of spite for confusing me. It may be chamber pop but it’s a far cry from my holy trinity of Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire, and Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s.

Currently listening to: “Benton Harbor Blues” by The Fiery Furnaces
