Forgetful
August 25, 2008
I haven’t posted anything new in a couple of days. I don’t write anything one night and before I know it, it’s a repeating thing. That’s why I tried to write something everyday, even if it’s on paper.
Since, my last post, I’ve restarted work. It began with an all day training session which was the standard allergy/sexual harassment/teamwork speeches. It was alot of fun because I got to see and hang out with so many of the guys from last year. It really reminded me why I enjoyed working there. That feeling was quickly destroyed the next day by the first day of actual in-shop work. We got hammered by the new freshmen. They are experienced enough to know we sell pizza but not enough to know the ordering procedure. We also got slowed down by new touch-pad registers. Since they are so new, we aren’t as well-versed in using them. There is one button that will cause them to crash. That will probably get hit accidentally on a regular basis.
It’s been nice having the new place. I met my neighbor for the first time a couple of days ago (I can’t remember when) and she was pretty hot. Unfortunately, she has an odd ethnic kind of name that slipped by me immediately. I want to say it’s Diem or something like that. She’s not the only girl I’ve seen around campus. The number of hot freshmen girls is crazy. I don’t know what the hell happened. It’s like the campus has turned into abercombie & fitch/southern California beach. So many hot girls walking around in skimpy clothing. It has been the main subject of conversation among the guys at work. I can’t wait for the first day of classes tomorrow to see what I’m going to end up looking at this semester.
I only have one class tomorrow and it’s one of the two that I need to force-add. It is Hist 3524 – European Military History to 1789. It sounds like a real grabber of a subject. A semester of the Crusades! Yay! I’m only really interested in the class because I’ve had the professor before and it meets a graduation requirement. I’ll probably enjoy it though. I just wish I had a 1000 level class so I can associate with some of the freshmen. I say that but I’m still the same introverted wreck I’ve always been. Hopefully, soon I will work up the stones to visit the counselling center and maybe make some progress.
For now, I’m looking forward to a day of classes and serving pizza.
Back in Black-sburg
August 21, 2008
I moved back down here to Tech today. It was a long day. Packing wasn’t any big deal and the drive was uneventful. It was just long. My car doesn’t use much gas but it still needed more then I had. I need cash. Hopefully, I’ll be able to come into alittle bit soon.
I got down here and went to check in for work training tomorrow only to find out that they were out of shirts and that they didn’t have my name down. Everyone knew me though so it was no big thing. I had really wanted a shirt because I love the one they gave out last year.
I came to the apartment and unloaded and unpacked. I was dripping sweat by the end. Everything is put away though. I even hung my 4 framed comics as art on the wall. I had imagined that they would take up more space. I’m really glad to be back.
I did make a few unfortunate discoveries today. My bike tires are almost flat and I don’t have a pump so I’m walking to training tomorrow. I’m also only signed up for a couple of classes because they cancelled one of the ones I had gotten into. I guess I’ll just have to force-add another class besides the one I had intended to already. I tires are more problematic. Until I can afford a pump, that’s kinda out of commission. I need cash BIG TIME.
While I Was Away
August 19, 2008
Now that I’m somewhat restored after my long two weeks, I’ll try to cover some of the things that happened on my trip. The biggest thing was taking down the tree. In the corner of the driveway, there was this great big dead tree that posed a risk of coming down and hitting the corner of the house. My father and I had to take it down one day in order to prevent that. It ended up being about 80 feet tall and around 2 feet thick. It came down perfectly and actually was pretty easy. I don’t know if I’ve talked about that before or what.
Because of the constant rain through there weren’t very many days when we could really do things. One day, we went to Woodstock. It was exactly what you would expect. The down was full of old hippies and younger “artists”. Just about every building was either a head/t-shirt shop or an art gallery. I liked the look of the town but the number of pretentious hippies and artsy shit annoyed me. Apparently the Clinton’s came through town the day after we did.
One of the most interesting parts of the trip was my trip to the strip club. I had spent all day painting my grandfather’s back steps and after cleaning myself up, I stayed there to have dinner with them. While that was happening, my parent’s called and told me that they were going out with some friends of theirs and that I could either join them or they would see me back at the camp later. I hung out with the grandparents for awhile and then went to the strip club. It was in an old house so it was pretty small and ramshackle. There weren’t that many people there and the girls weren’t their top ones because of the off night. I did end up getting 15 minutes in the VIP room with one. I didn’t know what to expect but it was like she was fucking me with my pants on. She was grinding and bouncing on my lap and everything. It was an interesting time.
A few days after that happened, we had a sort of family reunion. Everyone local came out to the camp for a picnic (my grandparents, 2 pairs of aunt and uncles, 2 cousins, 1 with her husband, my father’s cousin and his wife and son, and 2 people who are cousins of my grandfather or something like that). My father’s cousin is a complete lush and the funniest person that you will ever meet. We spent the entire weekend laughing our asses off as he drank an entire handle of Ketel One. It was good to see every one and the whole thing was a ton of fun. The two people who are cousins of my grandfather, were people that I had never even heard of, let alone met before. I had never even heard their last name before.
It was an interesting trip. Probably not the best time, I’ve had up there, but it definately wasn’t the worst. I just wish I hadn’t had to spend all two weeks with my family and no internet connection.
I’m Back
August 18, 2008
I’m back from New York and that means an internet connection. I won’t really write anything tonight because I’m so freaking sore and tired from driving nine hours to get back here. Needless to say, expect my usual style of post tomorrow night.
A Brief Update
August 11, 2008
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything on this site. I’ve been in a cabin in upstate New York for 9 days now with no internet or cell service. I’ve still got another 6 days to go. I wouldn’t mind it so much except it has poured every single day and is freaking freezing. I haven’t talked to any of my friends in over a week and my family is really getting on my last nerve. I can’t wait for it be over.
We went to the Saratoga Race Track a couple of days ago. It was nice for the first two races (of nine scheduled). But then it poured and washed out the track for the third time in the course’s history. I did meet a nice girl and we flirted for a little bit but it’s kinda hard when you spend most of your year 12 hours away.
I also learned about what is apparently a pretty good strip club not to far from here. I would like to sneak off some night. Maybe I’ll precipitate a fight with my father and “storm off” for awhile. It probably won’t happen though.
I feel kinda like a bum because I’m just sitting in this dinky little local library killing their wi-fi connection with my catching up on all the stuff I’ve missed. I’ve read most of my webcomics and checked a few of the better sites but I haven’t seen very much. I’ve still got much more I want to look at. I would spend hours and hours every day checking this stuff at home. I can’t do it all in 2 hours on a slow connection.
I want to go back to Blacksburg.
A Few More Thoughts
August 1, 2008
I’ve been pretty busy lately getting ready for my upcoming trip to New York. I’m just gonna pull an old one out of my hat and post some interesting stories that I’ve seen recently.
- Another teacher sex scandal. I would be tired of these except this one is about a hot asian teacher seducing another girl. In the timeless words of Quagmire: “Giggity”. Link
- China is pissed that people in another country have the right to free speech. With the Olympics coming up, they’ve been cracking down on people with opinions even harder then usual. Their attempts to dictate how American politicians behave is ludicrous. I’m glad we’re not the only country that butts in. Link
- What are the odds that Rove will escape justice for the umpteenth time? Next thing you know, he’ll be practising holistic medicine in Dallas with a crazy beard. Link
- The oldest joke in the world is fart joke? I didn’t realize Adam Sandler was 5,000 years old. Link
I was going to post some more but my connection appears to have died. I guess I’ll just sit on this post until I put it up.
